Dolby Atmos added to GSC Pavilion

30 May – Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC Cinemas) would be installing its second Dolby Atmos sound system at GSC Pavilion to cater for the moviegoers in downtown Kuala Lumpur this 12 June onwards.

GSC has announced that the latest surround system, also known as a 3D sound system, would be installed in Hall 3 of GSC Pavilion. As such, the hall would be closed from 5 June for installation works to commence.

Moviegoers would be able to experience the new sound system with the release of "How to Train Your Dragon 2" when the hall reopens on 12 June.

Other upcoming movies that are planned to be experienced in Dolby Atmos for a limited period of two weeks are "Transformers: Age of Extinction", "Jupiter Ascending" and "Guardians of the Galaxy".

GSC has also currently lined up "The Expendables 3" and "The Hobbit: The Battle of Five Armies" to be fully heard with the new sound system throughout its cinema run when they are released on 14 August and 18 December respectively.

The Dolby Atmos was first introduced to Malaysia by GSC in December 2013 when it was installed at GSC 1Utama, giving moviegoers there a new audio experience with the release of "The White Storm".

The Dolby Atmos is a 64 speakers system, some placed overhead of the audience, to create a dynamic audio effect for the audience while also allowing filmmakers to pinpoint the source of the sound that will increase the realism of their stories onscreen.
