28 Apr – Lotus Five Star Shaw Centrepoint will seek to establish itself as the new Hindi movie hotspot of Klang to complement the other LFS outlet in Klang that serves Tamil fare, according to cinema officials. Having undergone refurbishment since late last year, the 4-screen cineplex ended its 5-day free show test run yesterday, after playing old releases such as "Shaolin", "Hantu Kak Limah Balik Rumah", "Pocong Jumat Kliwon", "Yamla Pagla Deewana", "Drive Angry" and the Tamil blockbuster "Endhiran". Previously, the premises were run by Golden Screen Cinemas as early as the opening day of the mall proper on 7 December 1996 but ceased operations on 16 December 2010. A Cinema Online visit on 23 April 2011 (opening day) revealed many changes, including the demolishment of original walls to reroute all cinemagoer traffic. Hall floors were also completely redone to increase gradient.
It is also learned that sound systems are now a combination of three-way and four-way systems with four base woofers under each screen, although there are no plans for a digital hall for 3D movies yet. Lotus Five Star the cinema chain recently launched a new website (www.lfs.com.my) and boarded the social media train by establishing themselves on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, in line with similar approaches from other exhibitors to reach out to the public directly. The chain is also looking to launch online and mobile access to showtimes and ticketing in the near future.
