Set in early 1990s, which is the critical period for Malaysian Indian, who are forsaken by the estate owners and are forced to move to the cities and survive under harsh circumstances. The story follows a mischievous 12-year-old boy named Appoy and his relationships with his father, Maniam, and his uncles, former drug-addict Bala and local gangster Dorai.

Filem ini mengisahkan tentang seorang budak nakal berusia 12 tahun Appoy dan hubungannya dengan bapanya, Maniam, dan pakciknya, Bala (bekas penagih dadah), dan Dorai, seorang gangster. Ia berlatarbelakangkan pada awal 1990, iaitu tempoh sejarah sukar untuk kaum India Malaysia ketika itu di mana pemilik ladang yang sebelum ini mengupah mereka bekerja sejak generasi terdahulu lagi telah meminggirkan mereka, dan mereka terpaksa berpindah ke bandar dan bergelut untuk meneruskan hidup dalam keadaan yang teruk.
