Question - how can anyone watch a sequel to a Scandinavian blood fest of a movie that was never shown in Malaysia and hope to understand the whole thing? Answer - You can!

Thank goodness for European horror flicks. The Norwegians are synonymous with everything that has to do with snow, mountains and snowy mountains. Put a snow monster in the midst of it all (equipped with a huge snow pick as its weapon) and one paranoid survivor from the original film inside a hospital with several others and you can continue the story happily.

Yes, it would be better if you can actually see every single body being hacked and every single head getting slashed but of course the Censorship Board would be the only "slasher-in-chief" in this whole film. The effects look mighty real and although Ingrid Borso Berdal doesn't look like your typical hot babe-in-distress (like Hollywood resident C-grade horror queen Jaime King), she is great to watch, not to mention quite believable.

Although the second half of the film was a tad too corny and the scare tactic is very much expected, the whole film is filled with good anticipation and surprise - which in the end, is what the horror-thriller genre is all about. At one point, one of the characters even went: "Can you please stop doing that?" when the other character suddenly appeared behind her - it is as if the director is making his own meta-humour with the repetitive look-who's-behind-you scenes.

Overall, there is nothing new about "Cold Prey" but if you love horror and you are curious about a language you seldom hear and a film from a country you might know only for its offshore petroleum technology, feel free to get off from your lazy couch and watch this. At the very least, it might trigger a new love for ice.
