Shark Night

Arriving by boat at her family`s Louisiana lake island cabin, Sara (Sara Paxton) and her friends quickly strip down to their swimsuits for a weekend of fun in the sun. But when star football player Malik (Sinqua Walls) stumbles from the salt-water lake with his arm torn off, the party mood quickly evaporates. Assuming the injury was caused by a freak wake-boarding accident, the group realises they have to get Malik to a hospital on the other side of the lake, and fast. But as they set out in a tiny speedboat, the college friends discover the lake has been stocked with hundreds of massive, flesh-eating sharks! As they face one grisly death after another, Sara and the others struggle desperately to fend off the sharks, get help and stay alive long enough to reach the safety of dry land.
Diarahkan oleh David R. Ellis, "Shark Night 3D" mengisahkan tujuh sekawan bercuti di Tasik Louisiana pada satu hari minggu. Namun percutian mereka bertukar menjadi detik hitam apabila mereka menjadi sasaran sekumpulan ikan jerung.

Watch this if you liked: "Piranha"

Directed by David R. Ellis, "Shark Night 3D" is one of the worst of its kind, failing practically in every aspect, right down to its title. The word 'night' has no business being in the title seeing that most of the action occurred during the day. Audiences who are planning to fork out cash for a 3D ticket thinking that they are going to get the same amount of excitement, gore and gut-spewing as "Piranha 3D", are in for a real big disappointment.

Sara Paxton plays Sara, a mysterious college student with a deep and disturbing secret. She invites her friends to a post- graduation party on the lake at her parents' Louisiana island weekend house. In this group of friends, there are the usual stereotypes: the slut, the funny one, the jock and his girl, and of course the nerd guy that's in love with Sara. Through a series of events, they get eaten one by one in a very un-scary way.

No one knows how the sharks got into the lake, the locals are evil and unimaginably stupid, and there is a character that seems like he came right out of a Bollywood film, because he is over-dramatically indestructible. The rendering of the sharks are passable during some scenes but in most cases, they look rubber -like and not at all intimidating.

Confusing as it may be, this is the same film director that brought you "Snakes on a Plane" and "Final Destination 2". How is it possible that someone is able to make a bunch of snakes on a plane interesting but a bunch of sharks in a lake downright boring? Then again, maybe the missing puzzle piece is Samuel L. Jackson.

In conclusion, bad plot, bad effects, poor acting, and just boring. If there's anyone who still insists on watching it, save a few extra bucks and watch 2D instead.
