Watch this if you liked: "Singam" & "Saamy"

"Singam 2", the sequel to 2010 blockbuster "Singam", returns once again with more action, more dialogue, more comedy and more villains to entertain die-hard fans of Suriya.

It starts from where the first part ends, where Duraisingam (Suriya) is now an undercover cop assigned to monitor the illegal activities happening in Tuticorin town. Sathya (Hansika Motwani) is a student who falls for Duraisingam but doesn't know that he is engaged to Kavya (Anushka Shetty).Soon Duraisingam unearths a drug smuggling involving the local mafia, Bhai (Mukesh Rishi) and Thangarasu (Rahman), who are connected with a wanted international drug lord, Danny (Danny Sapani). How Duraisingam takes down his enemies form the rest of story.

The director retained most of the original cast from first film and adds new ones. Most of them are not really important in the sequel. New additions like Hansika, Santhanam, and four villains are just garam masala. Alhough Hansika is bubbly and innocent; her role doesn't fit her character well. Anushka reprises her original role without much screen time and only appears for the song sequences. Same goes to comedian Vivek who is overruled by Santhanam with his unrelated comedy gigs. The only reason to watch the film would be because of Suriya's energetic performance as an honest and angry cop who shouts at villains. Rahman and newcomer Danny are convincing as the villains, whereas Mukesh's role vanishes among huge cast line-up.

Devi Sri Prasad's background insert tracks sound better than the songs, although most of the songs are peppy and lively. The much hyped songs like "Singam Dance" and "Vaale Vaale" are the picks of the film. The film has a lot of action sequences compared to its first film and the story races along at a remarkable pace that keeps you glued to your seats throughout. On downside, the lengthy action sequences cause the film to drag and the logic gets thrown out towards the end. Although not as good as the original, "Singam 2" still manages to entertain the audience mainly due to its one-man army, Suriya.
