The Rover

In a dangerous near future in the Australian desert, Eric (Pearce) has left everything behind, but when his last possession is stolen by a gang of dangerous criminals, Eric sets off on a hunt to find them. Along the journey he enlists the help of Rey (Pattinson), the naïve and injured member of the gang, who was left behind.

The Good, the Bad and the Roving:

• Director David Michôd's cinematography skills in "The Rover" make the audience feel like moving to the beautifully presented outback despite the violence he serves within the same landscape.

• Guy Pearce's performance as Eric is strong and believable, whereas Robert Pattinson shows he can act beyond his "Twilight" character but he still has long way to go in fully developing his acting chops.

• Despite all the violence in the movie, there is a touch of emotion in the way the two broken down men connect with each other, forming an odd bond strengthen by their damage if nothing else.

Trivia:

• David Michôd wrote the character of Eric specifically for Guy Pearce.
