10 Nov – Michael Jackson's "This Is It" remained top at the Singaporean box office for the weekend just gone (Nov 5-8) but in Malaysia the honours go to "Pisau Cukur", the new Bernard Chauly movie starring screen sirens Maya Karin and Fazura. The Malay rom-com opened with 43 prints and grossed in excess of RM 1 million for the frame according to a report from production house Red Films. Ecstatic about the box office, director Bernard Chauly told Cinema Online: "Yeah, beat it, beat it! Watch it, watch it! I'm very surprised and obviously pleased about my movie. I sincerely appreciate those who rushed to watch it over the weekend. I continue to hope that everyone from all backgrounds and age groups will go to the cinemas to watch this movie because 'Pisau Cukur' is really a movie for all Malaysians to enjoy!" "Pisau Cukur", a comedy about two gold-digging women, has had the benefit of strong online presence via its Facebook promos. The film is also buoyed by various meet-the-stars roadshows held over last weekend in Kuantan and Kuala Lumpur. "Pisau Cukur" is playing in cinemas now.
