Wolverine big at box office

13 May – Last weekend, "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" showed it had the X-factor when it topped the Malaysian box office charts for the second week running against sci-fi newcomer "Star Trek". Released on 7 May, the starship U.S.S. Enterprise failed to soar past the adamantium clawed Wolverine as both battled for the top spot over the weekend. Both the PG-13 rated flicks are among the year 2009's biggest movie blockbusters anticipated by fans nationwide.

Cinema manager Mr. Lee at GSC Mid Valley said: "It's clearly judged by the results how big the fan base here for 'X-Men' films in Malaysia and how well it's doing. This is the kind of movie has that certain appeal to the audience to go and watch it more than once. Even though 'Star Trek' was at second place, it still did very well at the box office."

Falling behind a notch in third position is Syamsul Yusof's "Bohsia: Jangan Pilih Jalan Hitam", while Thailand's action flick "Power Kids" debuted at fourth place, followed by Hong Kong's "Sniper."

"X-Men Origins: Wolverine" and "Star Trek" is now playing in cinemas!
