23 Apr – Recently launched at GSC Mid Valley, the French Film Festival will be up and running again for the ninth year in a row providing moviegoers a chance to catch some of the best award-winning French films to date. The festival will be screened at four GSC cinema locations in Kuala Lumpur and Penang: GSC Mid Valley, GSC Pavilion, GSC One Utama and GSC Gurney Plaza. Among the guests who attended the opening ceremony was Mr Bruno Plasse, director of the Alliance Francaise, Mr Daniel Blaize, Cooperation, Scientific & Cultural Counsellor from the French Embassy in Malaysia, and Mr Anthelme Vidaud, Assistant Cultural from the French Embassy Malaysia. Two-time award nominated comedy "Crime Is Our Business" (2008) at the César Awards 2009 was chosen as the opening film for the launch. Starring Catherine Frot and André Dussollier, the film tells the comedic adventure of Prudence, who is out to track down a killer after witnessing a murder, was nominated for Best Actress and Best Writing - Adaptation. "Crime Is Our Business" is just one of six films that will be showcased in the annual festival held at GSC Mid Valley, Pavilion and 1 Utama, Kuala Lumpur from 7 May to 17 May 2009, and GSC Gurney Plaza, Penang from 21 May to 27 May 2009. Bearing different genres like thriller, biography, social and romantic comedy, the other films on offer are "Hunting And Gathering", "Saint Cyr", "400 Blows", "Rivals" and "Séraphine". The prevailing ticket price will be charged.
