20 May – "Eden Lake" and "Stardust" editor Jon Harris makes his feature-directing debut with "The Descent 2", continuing where Neil Marshall ("Dog Soldiers") left off in the earlier "Descent". Shauna McDonald returns as Sarah Carter who emerged out of the Appalachian cave system where the events of "The Descent" took place. Sarah and her group of friends decided to go on a spelunking trip but things took a turn for the worse as 'Crawlers' attacked them. A traumatised Sarah escaped the cave but she was forced to return to the underground with the rescue team in search of her five missing girlfriends. Selected contest winners and guests caught the Cathay Damansara preview of "The Descent 2" recently before the movie goes out on wide release next month.
According to the production notes, there is a difference in how the Crawlers are being portrayed in both movies, as the latter seems more vicious and ready to rip you to pieces in seconds! Director Jon Harris wanted the Crawlers to be more viciously feral, inbred, scarred and deformed. The team enjoyed the excitement of coming up with individual traits and facial disfigurations, like they had been fighting with wild animals or each other. The main change is their teeth for ripping flesh moments. Each Crawler now has dentures with six rows of shark-like teeth. It pushed their jaws out more and meant the actors could barely close their mouths. After the preview, viewers were asked what they thought about the movie and how many stars would they give out of five.
"The Descent 2" will be showing in cinemas starting on 22 July 2010!
