13 Oct – After confirming Andrew Garfield as the next Peter Parker aka Spiderman recently, Sony Pictures also announced that Emma Stone and Rhys Ifans will also join the cast of the "Spiderman" reboot!
Emma Stone, whose latest chick flick "Easy A" became a hit when it was released, is selected to play as young Peter Parker's first love, Gwen Stacy. According to Matt Tolmach, president of Columbia Pictures, Emma Stone "is extraordinarily talented and has a very special on-screen spark that is perfect for this role. The chemistry between Andrew and Emma was stunning and made Emma the clear choice. Much to my surprise, it was fun to find out that our choice for Gwen (Emma) is also a natural blonde."
Comic actor Rhys Ifans ("Notting Hill", "Nanny McPhee And The Big Bang") will also join the fray as the villain in "Spiderman". Director Marc Webb ("500 Days Of Summer") praised Rhys Ifans for his adaptability in every role he has done. "What sets the Spider-Man villains apart is the complexity of their relationships with Peter Parker. Rhys' incredible ability to embody both warmth and rage makes him the ideal choice for this character." Unfortunately, the filmmakers prefer not to reveal the character that Rhys Ifans will be portraying in the movie.
The untitled "Spiderman" reboot will begin production in December and will be released in the States in 3D version on 3 July 2012.
The untitled "Spider-Man" movie is slated for release 5 July 2012 in Malaysia, while Singapore release is yet to be confirmed.
