Movie Carnival finale!

20 June – As the 19-event celebrated 'everything and anything movies', Movie Carnival 2011 that was held from 1 to 19 June, finally came to a close last weekend registering a huge turnout of movie fans for the biggest movie event of the year stationed at IPC Shopping Centre (formerly known as Ikano Power Centre).


Movie Carnival 2011 ended with a bang last weekend!

Beginning with its first day, the Movie Carnival saw the cast of upcoming 3D horror film "The Hunter", as the movie had its press conference to coincide with the event's grand launch. Other than the cast of "The Hunter", the event also registered an attendance of stars from local movies such as "Starts Good Ends Good", "Karipap Karipap Cinta", "KL Gangster", "Tolong! Awek Aku Pontianak" and more during its two week-long duration.

As movie fans managed to get up-close and personal with the celebrities, they also had the opportunity to meet and take photos with the many movie character appearances at the event which included; Po from "Kung Fu Panda", Papa Smurf, Clumsy and Smurfette from "The Smurfs", Alvin, Simon and Theodore from "The Chipmunks", as well as Sci-Fi characters from "Star Wars", "Star Trek", "Predators" and more.

Fans got to meet the stars of upcoming film "Karipap Karipap Cinta".

The cast of "KL Gangster" also came by to greet fans.

Besides meeting the famous celebrities and movie characters, movie fans also had the opportunity to reach the ranks of the stars with the 'Casting Studio" event that was held during the weekend, which enabled aspiring artistes to attend an open casting call to impress personalities from the film industry, such as director Bjarne Wong and the producers of production house Tayangan Unggul among others, for their big acting break.

Apart from that, the event also featured exciting events lined up during its course such as, "The Smurfs", "Alvin and the Chipmunks" and "Kung Fu Panda" colouring contests, 'Hot Magazine Cosplay Competition', a '24-hour Movie Marathon', 'Fast and Furious Car Convoy', and a range of other stage activities that saw participants win exclusive movie merchandise, movie passes as well as LG LCD TV's and LG handphones.

While movie fans visited the one of a kind Smurf Village surrounded by 500 little Smurf figurines, as well as the Pagoda set from "Kung Fu Panda", they also had photo opportunities with the life size Lightning McQueen and Mater from Pixar's "Cars" which were parked outside the entrance of IPC Shopping Centre.

As Movie Carnival 2011 wraps up with a bang, it promises to be bigger and better next year to continue on as the biggest movie event of the year for movie fans to celebrate 'everything and anything movies'.
