19 Dec – As one of the more successful Malay films, it is no surprise that "KL Gangster" will attract a deal for another instalment, however, it comes as a surprise that the local gangster movie will most likely feature the "Ong Bak" star, Tony Jaa, according to Berita Harian. Datuk Yusof Haslam, producer of "KL Gangster" has recently announced that the next instalment will be a prequel instead, and is set to be released soon with a budget of over RM3 million. The first film managed to collect about RM11.7 million when it was shown in more than 60 cinemas nationwide. It told the story of two brothers who got involved in the seedy world of gangsters. Malek, who learnt his lesson after being betrayed by his own gang started by Shark, soon found himself forced to return to the underworld that he left behind. In addition to the 35-year-old stuntman-turned-actor, director Syamsul Yusof has also invited the award-winning Malaysian actor, Rosyam Nor, to star. "KL Gangster 2" takes place before the original movie, but it will mark the return of the original cast such as Aaron Aziz, Adi Putra, Shoffi Jikan, Sheera Iskandar and Zizan.
