16 Jan – It was a full house at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur yesterday, with fans and movie enthusiasts alike gathered at the Centre Court, Level 2 to meet and greet Taiwanese superstar, Jay Chou, and the director of "The Beast Stalker", Dante Lam, who were both in Malaysia for a day to promote their latest action-thriller, "The Viral Factor" before heading off to Singapore today. For the multi-talented Jay Chou, "The Viral Factor" would presumably be his last action movie, as he reiterated that, "I didn't know starring in an action movie would be so hard and dangerous. There were many times that I was in fear of my life, and had to overcome that fear to do that stunt right then and there, and tomorrow." However, the 32-year-old knew he was in good hands, for Dante Lam is no veteran, with film credits like "The Twins Effect", "The Beast Stalker" and "Sniper". In fact, it was because of Lam's reputation that prompted the actor to accept his role as Jon Wan, to challenge himself as an actor. "I want to be known as an actor that tried many genres," said Chou with a smile. Before the 'Fans' Meet and Greet', Chou and Lam attended a press conference in JW Marriott Hotel, which saw them answering questions from the local media and picked three lucky winners from the media to receive prizes sponsored by Sharp AQUOS, which included an LED TV, Plasmacluster Air Purifier and Plasmacluster Car Ion Generator. Following that, 60 winners and fans were selected for the opportunity for an exclusive get-together to win Sharp products and movie merchandise, as well as take a group photo with Chou. During the meet and greet, Chou and Lam were entertained by performances from fans, which saw them singing and acting in order to win Sharp products and movie merchandise as well. Fans also did not miss the opportunity to present the award-winning Chou with various birthday gifts and cakes, as his birthday falls on 18 January.
Finally, Chou and Lam were escorted upstairs to GSC Pavilion for the Gala Premiere of "The Viral Factor" right after the mall appearance. The movie tells the story of two estranged brothers who reunite during a kidnapping, one as an ex-cop who tries to stop the crime from happening, the other as the perpetrator. It stars two of Asia's hottest leads, Jay Chou and Nicholas Tse as the two brothers respectively, and was filmed primarily in Kuala Lumpur. "The Viral Factor" opens in cinemas in Malaysia and Singapore on 19 January 2012.
