6 Dec – It was a damp and rainy opening night for the annual ScreenSingapore event, however no spirits were left damped by the lively appearance of international star Chow Yun Fat at the world premiere of "The Last Tycoon". Eager fans gathered with umbrellas to beat the rain in order to catch their favourite stars as early as 4pm outside the premises of Shaw Theatres Lido on 4 December, which was decked elegantly in Christmas decor and red carpet which was stretched metres long leading into the cinema foyer. The 57-year-old veteran star who was last seen in "The Assassins" was joined on the red carpet with his Singaporean wife Jasmine Tan along with his co-stars Yolanda Yuen, Joyce Feng, Gao Hu, Xin Baiqing, director Wong Jing and producer Andrew Lau to usher in his latest movie revolving around the criminal underworld.
Closing ScreenSingapore this year, is the world premiere of the much-anticipated Singapore-Malaysia box office hit sequel, "The Wedding Diary II". The red carpet event which would be held tomorrow, 6 December, at Golden Village, VivoCity would welcome its cast and crew, Aniu, Elanne Kwong, Zhu Houren, Kara Hui, Marcus Chin, Cynthia Wang and director Adrian Teh at the red carpet. Running from 4 to 7 December this year in partnership with the Asia TV Forum and Market (ATF), ScreenSingapore is held primarily at the Marina Bay Sands to draw film and industry key players to share and market their products.
The first ever ScreenSingapore event was held last year and was chaired by Hollywood filmmaker Oliver Stone with a red carpet appearance by Tom Hanks for the premiere of his movie "Larry Crowne". Other celebrities who graced the event were Zhang Ziyi, Lee Byung Hun, Vanness Wu and other local Singaporean personalities.
