"CZ12" beats "Cold War"

Jackie Chan gives his all to "CZ12" which paid off very well in Malaysia.

3 Jan – Jackie Chan broke more records in Malaysia with "CZ12" by achieving the highest opening week for a Chinese film as well as the highest box office for a Chinese film, surpassing the record previously set by "Cold War".

In a span of 13 days, "CZ12" has raked in RM 15 million in box office collections. The receipts officially knocks "Cold War" off the top spot with the latter previously taking in RM 5 million in 11 days.

"Cold War" had made headlines by being the highest grossing Chinese film in Malaysia in three years but apparently, Jackie Chan's megastar charm is too much for even the star-studded film to handle.

"Cold War" is knocked off the top spot by Jackie Chan's "CZ12".

The movie had featured a large ensemble of actors that included Aaron Kwok, Tony Leung, Eddie Pang, Aarif Lee, and Andy Lau but Chan managed to beat them all out with a smaller cast that included Korean heartthrob Kwon Sang-woo and virtual unknowns Zhang Lanxin and Yao Xintong.

"CZ12" is also currently the highest grossing Jackie Chan movie in Malaysia. Upon learning the news, the action star took the time to record a thank you message to Malaysian fans.
