28 Jan – "Titanic" star and Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet is in talks to take a shot for an unspecified role in the film "Divergent", which is Neil Burger's adaptation of Veronica Roth's popular young adult novel, according to Empire Online. Previously, rising Hollywood actress Shailene Woodley ("The Descendants", "The Secret Life Of The American Teenager") had been attached to "Divergent", the first instalment in a trilogy set in a dystopian version of Chicago that revolves around teen-on-teen violence. The 21-year-old will play the lead role; a teenage girl called Beatrice Prior, who becomes conflicted on whether to stay in the Abnegation faction or to follow her heart. There are rumours predicting that the "The Reader" actress might be starring as Beatrice's mother, Natalie Prior or Jeanine Matthews, the leader of the Erudite faction in the sci-fi production. Earlier this month, Alex Pettyfer, Lucas Till and Jeremy Irvine were tested by Berger and Summit Entertainment for the role of Tobias Eaton, Beatrice's instructor and love interest, but the filmmakers have decided to go for older actors instead. "Divergent" is expected to hit theatres in US in March next year.
Winslet will next be seen in "Movie 43" and Jason Reitman's drama "Labor Day", alongside Josh Brolin and Tobey Maguire, as a depressed single mother named Adele, while Woodley will be shooting her role as Mary Jane Watson in the highly anticipated "The Amazing Spider-Man 2".
