21 May – With the passing of Kedah Regency Council Chairman, Tan Sri Tunku Annuar Ibni Almarhum Sultan Badlishah this morning, many businesses including cinemas in the state of Kedah will be closed until 24 May 2014 as a formal sign of respect for mourning. Cinema operators with cinemas in the state have issued official notices that their cinemas will be closed to mourn the passing of the younger brother of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Abdul Halim Mu'adzam Shah. The respective cinemas that will be closed from today onwards are; LFS City Square Alor Star, MBO Kulim, MBO Alor Star and GSC Aman Jaya. Other cinemas in the state such as Grand Cineplex, Mega C Langkawi and Jitra Mall Cineplex are also reported to be closed. The cinemas will resume their operations on Saturday 24 May 2014.
