Metrowealth's David Teo now a singer

27 Jun – The Chief Executive Officer of Metrowealth International Group (MIG), Mejar David Teo Chew Huat is no longer just dabbling in making movies, but can now also add 'singer' to his repertoire with his song debut, "Kacang".

The song is a collaborative effort between Teo and Malaysian rapper Cat Farrish, where the latter had also composed the song for Teo.

The music video for the song which was released by Metrowealth Pictures' YouTube page on 23 June, sees Teo busting some moves at One City Shopping Mall, USJ Subang which can be described as inspired by South Korean artiste, PSY.

Derived from the Malaysian proverb; 'Kacang Lupakan Kulit' which used to imply someone who is ungrateful, Teo claimed that the song was not specifically targeted for anyone, but it is simply a song with moral lessons in it.

Although, there have been speculations online that the song could be directed towards Malaysian filmmaker, Ahmad Idham, following the controversial dispute between the two of them where Teo had once declared to the media that Idham is 'Bagaikan kacang lupakan kulit' (a person who forgets or denies his origin root).

"What I'm trying to say is that the song was not meant for anyone. The subject, 'Kacang Lupakan Kulit' often appears in our daily lives, which is why I think it would be interesting to stress this proverb in the song. However, if anyone is offended by this, all I can say is 'Siapa makan cili, dia rasa pedas' (He who gets pinched, shall feel the pain)." Teo told Gua.my recently.

The song also features Malaysian actress Fida Ibrahim with whom Teo has a duet with, along another Malaysian rapper, Zarul.

Teo's first single, "Kacang" is going through its last stage of production before it gets distributed to all the radio stations in Malaysia.
