19 Nov – Local cinemas may still be closed now but fans of Japanese films in Malaysia don't have to miss out this year on watching the best titles that Japan has to offer. The Japanese Film Festival (JFF) is offering a virtual alternative, in the form of JFF Plus: Online Festival. The virtual edition of the film festival will take place via the Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur website (jfkl.org.my/events/jff-plus-online-festival) from tomorrow, 20 November, until Sunday, 29 November.
Meanwhile, the physical edition of JFF 2020, originally set to be held throughout October and November, has now been postponed to 7 to 31 January 2021 and renamed to Japanese Film Festival 2020 Plus One. JFF 2020 Plus One will be held in Kuala Lumpur (GSC Mid Valley, GSC 1 Utama, GSC NU Sentral) from 7 to 13 January 2021, Penang (GSC Gurney Plaza) from 14 to 17 January 2021, and Johor Bahru (GSC Paradigm Mall JB) from 21 to 24 January 2021. It will then head to Kota Kinabalu (GSC Suria Sabah) and Kuching (GSC CityONE Mega Mall), where it will be held simultaneously from 28 to 31 January 2021.
