"After Earth: A Battle Of Survival" begins! 120 participants, 12 teams and 8 rounds of laser tag battle at Awana Genting!

4 Jun - It was a battle of survival and stealth at the grounds of Awana Genting Highlands for "After Earth: A Battle Of Survival" laser tag challenge that saw 120 excited participants including a team from yours truly, Cinema Online, taking part in the early Saturday morning activity!

Held in conjunction with the release of upcoming action-adventure film "After Earth", local distributor Sony Pictures Releasing Malaysia gathered participants into groups of 12 consisting of 10 players and armed the teams with laser tag equipment to battle it out against one another in what looked like our very own local "After Earth" reenactment.

To join the challenge, players had to register online via Sony Pictures' Facebook page and by doing so, they received an "After Earth" backpack, t-shirt and a granola bar from Nature Valley.

What was the game plan and stakes of the challenge? Well, teams who emerged victorious from the battle rounds were then left to battle other players in a one-on-one showdown where the player with the most points emerged as a winner of the overall challenge.

With prizes like a trip for 2 to Gold Coast, Australia, Sony Electronics products, Sony Xperia mobile phones and "After Earth" movie tickets, it's no wonder everyone played like their lives depended on it! Check out photos of the "After Earth: A Battle Of Survival" below:

Everybody wanted to win and be the ultimate survivor.

So there was a lot of scheming taking place on the field...

And it came down to each man to his own, to finally declare a winner...

Third place went to Ng Chee How who took home a Sony Blu-Ray Home Theatre system and a Sony Xperia mobile phone!

Second place went to Chan Jian Yee who snagged a Sony Handycam Camcorder and a Sony Xperia mobile phone!

"After Earth" tells a story of a legendary General Cypher Raige (Will Smith) and his son, Kitai (Jaden Smith) who aspires to be a soldier like his father. When an asteroid storm damages their space craft, they crash-landed on a now unfamiliar and dangerous planet Earth.

"After Earth" comes to cinemas nationwide on 6 June.
