10 Jan – When 24-year-old Puchong moviegoer Muhammad Sufian bin Talib was shortlisted as a candidate for the Grand Finale of the GSC Silver Jubilee Celebration Contest held in One Utama recently, he went on with the challenge thanks to his cousin's motivation. Little did he know that the nudge his cousin gave him would end up with Sufian beating out 174 other candidates to go home with the grand prize of a Hyundai-Inokom Elantra 1.6 which is valued over RM93,000. "This is my first car and I plan to drive the car to Melaka. My 80-year-old maternal grandmother lives there and I promised to take her for a ride." he said. GSC General Manager, Irving Chee and Kate Khoo from Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors Sdn Bhd was at the prize giving event to present the winnings to Sufian, who later celebrated the win with his family with a good meal.
Other winners included first prize winner Tang Lee Hoong, 26, who won a 4D/3N luxury holiday for four in Macau and Low Loi Ming, 33, who walked away with a 4D/3N holiday for two in Macau as well. 175 candidates were chosen from over 20,000 entries received for the seven-week GSC Silver Jubilee Celebration Contest which kicked off on 1 October, 2012. The finalists were challenged on their knowledge of Golden Screen Cinemas, their creativity and speed to outdo each other in the mock reality TV show style environment which was broken into three parts.
