6 reasons that will "Bait" you!

Yes, all of us admit that when we first heard of this film, we said, "What? A film about sharks and a tsunami?" and "It's an Australian film? No way is it going to work out." However, when we saw the film, we changed our minds. Why? Read on to find out the six reasons why you have to watch "Bait".

Reason 1: "Bait" is an Australian horror and sharksploitation film.

Australia may be the land down under, but there is nothing that is underdeveloped about their horror films as you might think. If you want proof, remember films like "Lake Mungo" (2009), "Road Games" (2008), "Wolf Creek" (2005), the crocodile horror "Black Water" (2008) and the psychological thriller "Triangle" (2009). There is also "The Loved Ones" (2010), which also stars "Bait" star Xavier Samuel.

Reason 2: "Bait" has some of the more famous Australian stars from Hollywood in it.

Among the cast of "Bait" is the youthful heartthrob Xavier Samuel, who rose to fame with his roles as Riley Biers in "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" and Brother in the short film "Sanctuary", and the less youthful heartthrob Julian McMahon who is well-known as Dr. Doom in "Fantastic Four" and "Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer", Cole Turner in the hit series "Charmed" and womanizing plastic surgeon Christian Troy on the Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning TV show "Nip/Tuck". There is also actress Sharni Vinson who became famous through "Blue Crush 2" and "Step Up 3D". Other stars include Alice Parkinson ("Sanctum"), Phoebe Tonkin ("The Secret Circle") and Singaporean stars Qi Yu Wu ("The Home Song Stories") and Adrian Pang ("I Do I Do").

Reason 3: "Bait" combines the fear of tsunamis and sharks!

Grant Lehman and Steve Boyle who have worked together in the film "Daybreakers" (2009) have been called on once again to collaborate in creating the animatronics and design of the white shark in the film. They choose a white shark as the film's main antagonist as it is known to be a predator that can move extremely fast as there are scenes where the white shark has to swim among shelves of products. The white shark is also a creature that is able to lunge out of water to attack its prey and look fearsome at the same time. Because of these characteristics, the original script that listed an ordinary shark has been changed to the white shark. If that is not scary enough, there is a tsunami to contend with!

Reason 4: "Bait" is directed by a famous director

Kimble Rendall, the man who has been offered to direct this film comes with the experiences of working as a 2nd Unit Chief Director in blockbusters such as "The Matrix" trilogy, "The Knowing", "Ghost Rider" and "Underworld: Rise Of The Lycans". So if it is any consolation, the production of "Bait" has Rendall's touch of daring that were present in those Hollywood blockbusters.

Reason 5: "Bait" is produced by a producer who has elevated the careers of many Australian stars

Russell Crowe, Cate Blanchett, Baz Luhrmann, Hugh Jackman and Heath Ledger, these are the big names of Hollywood that started off as a star in or director of producer Gary Hamilton's film. The Screen International Industry magazine has named Hamilton as the most influential being in Australia's private film industry in 2001, while Encore magazine named Hamilton as one of the 10 most powerful professional industry players in Australia.

Reason 6: "Bait" has the 3D treatment!

If all of those reasons have not convinced you yet, nothing will. Oh wait, we can still tempt you with the 3D visuals and effects of "Bait"! Fans of 3D films will definitely want to watch the film as the use of 3D in "Bait" serves its purpose in heightening your watching experience. What can possibly be more heart-racing than seeing a white shark attacking humans in 3D! Unless, of course, "Jaws" is re-released in cinemas next.
