The list of 2020 movies postponed to next year continues growing.

As we inch closer to the tail end of 2020, it's becoming apparent that the film industry will not recover from the COVID-19 pandemic anytime soon.

With the prolonged closure of most cinemas around the world, major titles from Hollywood have no choice but to reschedule to new dates. We previously did two lists of 2020 blockbusters postponed to 2021, here we continue with our third list.

Note that the release dates below are following the US schedule and are arranged in a descending order.

New release date: 2 April 2021

Daniel Craig can't retire that bow tie just yet. His final Bond movie finally gave up hope of releasing this year and has now moved to early April 2021, a year after the Cary Joji Fukunaga-helmed movie was supposed to open in cinemas worldwide. The 25th instalment of the Bond franchise had seen several date changes even prior to the pandemic, as it was originally scheduled for November 2019 and later February 2020, then eventually settling for April 2020 after Danny Boyle vacated the director's seat. Forced to move from its April date due to the pandemic, it stayed in its rescheduled November 2020 date for quite some time before it was announced recently that "No Time to Die" is now a 2021 movie.

New release date: 16 April 2021

Even though the Tom Hanks-starring "Bios" has been sitting pretty on 2 October 2020 since two years ago, it had to vacate the slot when the pandemic hit and will now only open in cinemas next April. Directed by Miguel Sapochnik ("Game of Thrones"), the sci-fi drama revolves around Hanks' character Finch, an ailing inventor who created a robot named Jeff (Caleb Landry Jones) to take care of his dog after his death. Also part of the cast are Samira Wiley, Laura Harrier and Skeet Ulrich.

New release date: 7 May 2021

Originally a 1 May 2020 movie, the Scarlett Johansson-starring Black Widow solo vehicle has now been postponed about a year from its original date. Speculations of its delay arose, plus the possibility of being moved online to Disney+ (which has since been debunked), following the abovementioned Bond movie's postponement, since the Craig-starrer was the first blockbuster to be affected by the pandemic and its shift signalled the beginning of an avalanche of rescheduling for major titles, including "Black Widow". The cinema closures earlier this year forced the Marvel movie to move to November 2020 but with no end in sight for these temporary shutdowns, a shift to next year was inevitable.

New release date: 1 October 2021

The Denis Villeneuve-helmed "Dune" was supposed to be one of this year's most anticipated, star-studded titles, set for release in November. Of course, the pandemic threw a curve ball at everyone and the movie got delayed. At first it was only a month's delay, moving from 20 November to 18 December, but the latest update revealed that it has now moved all the way to October 2021. The movie, an adaption of Frank Herbert's 1965 novel of the same name, stars Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Oscar Isaac, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Jason Momoa, Javier Bardem and Rebecca Ferguson.

New release date: 2021

There's no escaping the sad truth that most movies will not be making it to the big screen this year. This sequel to 2019's "Escape Room" was yet another April 2020 movie that had to make a change in release date when cinemas started temporarily closing since March. Following several rescheduling, it seemed settled for release on New Year's Day 2021 (though some reported 30 December 2020 as well), but after being booted off the date to make way for Milla Jovovich and Tony Jaa's "Monster Hunter" (which was moved forward from its April 2021 date to 30 December 2020), "Escape Room 2" currently remains in the 2021 schedule but without a set release date.
