"Goodnight Mommy" (2014) This Austrian film is about two twin boys, Lukas and Elias, and their mother who returns home after an unexplained facial cosmetic surgery. Wrapped with bandages and with only her eyes and mouth visible, the mother starts acting differently than the sweet caring person she once was. She is now crueler and her strange actions prompt the boys to think that the person behind the bandages might be not actually be their mother. This disturbing movie will sear images of brutality in your head for days, so make sure you have your guts and wits prepared for it.

"The Witch" (2015) This 2015 film is so terrifying that actual Satanists endorse it! Forget "The Blair Witch Project" as Robert Egger's 17th century tale takes you right in the heart of demonic possessions and witchcraft. The film follows a devout family who are banished from a Puritan plantation only to set up their new cottage on a sinister land. When the family's newborn vanishes - revealed to be kidnapped by a witch living in the woods - more grisly soul clenching moments follow and the imagery of bloody horror set against the stark white and bland backdrop of the woods are enough to shock your system.
