The name Sharifah Nor Azean Syed Mahadzir Al-Yahya or, as she is known among her fans, Scha Al-Yahya, is synonymous with the wilful yet crude, movie roles. The sweetheart to the famous emcee and actor, Awal Ashaari, is always playing the role of the crude girl or the strong-willed tomboy, yet in reality, she is as far from her roles as she could be. Not only is she beautiful, Scha Al-Yahya is also a true lady at heart.

Her latest film, "Aku Bukan Tomboy" has shown a side of Scha that is different, although that strong-will is something that she shares with her character. Nevertheless, despite the crudity of her character, she is still endearing, and Scha shares with us about her multi-layered character in this film by "KL Gangster's" Syamsul Yusof.

Q: How do you do, Scha? Can you tell us a little about your character in this film?
Scha: I'm fine, thank you. My character this time is more spontaneous and hilarious than the previous characters I've had to play. Before, my tomboys are cruder, more wilful, but this time, this rough tomboy is actually a true girl at heart.

Q: Before this you have acted tomboy roles before. How do you differentiate this role in the film, "Aku Bukan Tomboy" with the others then?
Scha: Well, like everyone knows, I've tried to act out tomboy roles before, which is how I got this role in the first place. Datuk and Syamsul saw how I portrayed myself and they want me to bring that to my role in this film, but at the same time, they trust me to be versatile, to be different because the story is different. In addition, you'll see that I'm different because of the other elements that support the film, as well as the other characters.

Q: What are some of the challenges you've faced during filming?
Scha: Like I've said before, many know me by my previous tomboy roles, so the challenge is to differentiate myself so that I'm not seen as being one-dimensional. Besides, the shooting process takes place during the fasting month. Many of my scenes are near restaurants so I really have to control my desire to eat. When I finish a scene, I have to run back into the car because I can't stand the smell of food! (laughs)

Q: So did you manage to separate your role from your previous ones? Are you satisfied with your work in the film "Aku Bukan Tomboy"?
Scha: Well, in a way, I'm not really satisfied. But I do feel that I've managed to come up with something different. This time, I'm more adorable.

Q: How long have you been acting? During this time, are you satisfied with your work?
Scha: My involvement in the acting industry is 3 years. I'm not really satisfied but I'm thankful for what I have now. It's enough that people know who I am, that Scha Al-Yahya exists in this industry, because there's still a lot that I have to learn.

Q: As a celebrity, what is your goal in the acting industry?
Scha: Before this I'm not really interested in acting, I was just indulging one of my whims. However, after a while, it became the only thing that I would want to do, as well as my means of making money. My instinct as human being kicked in and I am now motivated to succeed, to win awards and be recognised for it. I know it will be worth it when I get there, and people see my work. That is my goal and my wish.

Q: Here's the final question. What are your hopes for the film "Aku Bukan Tomboy"?
Scha: I hope this film will be successful and that the audience will enjoy Syamsul Yusof's first comedy.

Q: Thank you and I wish you every success.
Scha: You're welcome.
