David Manning of Ridgefield Press is a movie reviewer. "He" has given thumbs up to movies that many sophisticated movie reviewers like Roger Ebert and Stephen Holden would not even want to watch the second time. "He" seems to be a constant supporter of any films released by Sony Pictures. And now we know why...to start off, there is no such person as David Manning.
The expose' happened when a Newsweek movie reviewer challenged the phantom reviewer's authenticity. It's interesting to note that all the films he praised, such as "A Knight's Tale", "The Animal" and last year's "Vertical Limit", were all movies released by Sony Pictures. The films mentioned above were rather not well received by most movie critics, so that could have been the tip that sold this non-existent reviewer out. Sony Pictures has denied being involved in this scandal and its spokeswomen Susan Tick said that action will be taken to find out who is responsible. Meanwhile, "A Knight's Tale", starring Heath Ledger, will be arriving on Malaysian screens in the next month or two.
