21st Malaysian Film Festival announced

11 Jun – This year, Malaysia's very own prestigious film awards the Malaysian Film Festival or FFM is to be held in Putrajaya for the very first time. For this year's ceremony, the National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (FINAS), the main organiser of the celebrated film award is planning to go all out in promoting the 21st anniversary of the event throughout the nation including the road show, meet the fans session with the nominees, stage performances and many more starting from 6 July onwards.

Local artistes and the award committee are all set for the prestigious award.
Themed "Ke Arah Kecemerlangan Dalam Penerbitan Filem", this year's festival will receive over 150 participants from the five main categories who will be vying for titles in the categories for best feature film, short film, documentary, animation and digital film. And as in previous years, the highlight is the award for the best feature film, where approximately 29 local flicks will be competing in the early phases including "Otai", "9 September", "Anak Halal", "Kayangan", "Anak", "Congkak", "Duyung", "Pensil", and "Evolusi KL Drift".

The confirmed nominees in their respective categories will be finalised on 15 July while the Top 5 nominees will be announced on 4 August. The FFM 21 Awards will take place at the Putrajaya International Convention Centre (PICC), Putrajaya on 9 August at 8.30 PM.

The 21st Malaysia Film Festival will be running from 8 to 10 August 2008 in Putrajaya.
