FFM'08 to have free screenings of local films

17 Jul - As part of efforts to bring the public closer to the local filmmaking industry, free movies are to be screened from August 8-10, as per the 21st Malaysian Film Festival's programme.

According to committee head Datuk Tengku Anuar Mussadad who was speaking at a press conference at GSC Signature KL, there will only be one show per movie, spread across three locations - GSC Alamanda in Putrajaya, TGV in KLCC and Cathay Cineleisure in Damansara. The 20 odd movies include "Cuci", "I'm Not Single", "Kayangan", "Dunia Baru The Movie", "Cinta U-Turn", "Anak Halal", "1957 - Hati Malaya", "Akhirat", "Pensil", "Anak", "Evolusi KL Drift", "Apa Kata Hati", "Nana Tanjung 2", "Congkak", "9 September", "Kala Malam Bulan Mengambang", "Sepi", "Impak Maksima", "Duyung" and "Otai".

He added that it shall be revealed soon by the National Film Development Corporation of Malaysia (FINAS) how the public may get hold of tickets, as the precise mechanics have yet to be finalised.

Speaking at the same press conference, the shortlisted contenders for the festival were also announced. Nancie Foo, who is in charge of submissions and jury, announced that a total of 103 films were submitted and that 23 feature films are in contention, as no entry was rejected.
