Mamat Khalid & Tayangan Unggul's Executive Producer Gayatri Su-Lin Pillai shares the stage for a speech

12 Aug - It was a proud moment for Mamat Khalid, as "Kala Malam Bulan Mengambang" bagged most awards including Best Picture at the 21st Malaysian Film Festival last Saturday (9 August 2008). The neo-noir film produced under the Tayangan Unggul banner brought home a total of RM 50,000 including trophies and additional rewards. The comedy director also won Best Director for the said movie, and took a trophy with RM 20,000 prize money.

Maya Karin in the other hand found herself not only a husband but also a Best Actress accolade for her portrayal of the tomboy Jo in "Anak Halal". Maya however, was represented by Tayangan Unggul Executive Producer Gayatri Su-Lin Pillai as she was in Italy for her wedding.

Four Jury's Exceptional Award was given to Shuhaimi Baba for "1957 Hati Malaya", M Subash for "Pensil", Dr Hatta for "Wayang" and Syamsul Yusof for "Evolusi Kl Drift".
