28 Oct – "High School Musical" fans did not hesitate to show off their dancing and singing skills following their favourite "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" characters Troy, Gabriella, Sharpay and Ryan, as Golden Screen Cinemas kicked off the first leg of the movie's roadshow. The event which took place at GSC 1 Utama last Saturday buzzed with excitement as parents and children gathered around to witness these young talents perform. Some performers came attractively dressed in cheerleading outfits and shirts decorated to suit the "High School Musical" theme.
Altogether, 10 teams entertained cinemagoers as they danced, sing or mimed to some new tunes from the "High School Musical 3" soundtrack such as "Now Or Never", "Walk Away" and "Right Here, Right Now". With a majority of the performers girls, the last performers stood out like a sore thumb as two boys braved the stage to sing "You Are The Music In Me". However, there was strong support from the audience and they clapped along to the beat of the music.
No team went home empty-handed that day and the prizes received include exclusive "High School Musical" wristband watches, apparels, sticker albums, movie soundtracks and GSC movie vouchers.
Curious onlookers also took part in impromptu performances and movie quiz sessions to win "High School Musical 3" posters and GSC passes. Making yet another energetic appearance was a short cheerleading performance by a 9-member group "Charms All-Stars" which was also a hit with the crowd during the movie's premiere at another cineplex in Petaling Jaya last week.
The "High School Musical 3: Senior Year" roadshow will move up north, to GSC Gurney Plaza, Penang on 2 November.
