27 Dec – "Munna Bhai" series creator Rajkumar Hirani's "3 Idiots" opened on wide release recently in most territories as the last Hindi film of the year. The title is regarded one of the most anticipated Hindi films of the year among Bollywood fans.

Starring Aamir Khan, Madhavan and Sharman Joshi together with the popular Kareena Kapoor, the film is also being reported as holding the distinction of being the first legal Hindi release on videosharing website Youtube.com, to be up for download three months after its theatrical release this week. High profile producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra was quoted as saying the move is an anti-piracy effort.

On a related note, lead star Madhavan was to make an appearance in Malaysia earlier this month to promote the film but the move fell through, according to film distributor for the film in Malaysia and Singapore, Antenna Entertainments.

"3 Idiots" opened simultaneously in Singapore and Malaysia on 25 December 2009.
