26 May – International film fans in Malaysia can now enjoy another round of Japanese films at the 6th Japanese Film Festival 2009 which will take place in Kuala Lumpur from 18 to 22 June at GSC Mid Valley and GSC 1 Utama (New Wing), then progress up North to Penang from 26 to 28 June at GSC Gurney Plaza. A total of eight films will be showcased during this festival, which are "Departures," "PACO and the Magical Book," "All Around Us," "Always – Sunset On Third Street 2," "After School," "Breathe In, Breathe Out," "How To Become Myself," and "The Bandage Club." "Departures" is the winner of Best Foreign Language Film at 81st Academy Awards in 2008. The annual Japanese Film Festival at Golden Screen Cinemas is held in partnership with Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur. The ticket price is RM5 per screening excluding "Departures," which will be at normal prevailing ticket price. All films are in Japanese with English subtitles.
