28 Jan - The Lunar festivities has begun and this time around, most cinemas are themed with Chinese New Year decorations. Some moviegoers flocked to GSC Mid Valley Megamall on the eve of the celebrations with ease as the roads heading to Megamall were smooth and clear of congestion. However, it was not the same with the lines at the cinema, as it was packed with people lining up to catch their most-wanted show. Properly decked with round Chinese red lanterns at the box office and concession area, it delivered a festive atmosphere for the Chinese New Year crowd.
Last year, Stephen Chow's extraterrestrial flick "CJ7" and Jay Chou's "Kung Fu Dunk" comedy were served as the Year of the Rat treat, while this year's Ox is currently offering "Red Cliff II", "All's Well Ends Well 2009", and "The Wedding Game". However, the two fastest selling movies on CNY eve was Brendan Fraser's fantasy "Inkheart" and wedding comedy "Bride Wars". "Bride Wars" is currently on sneaks with limited showtimes, due for nationwide release on 29 Jan 09.
