Dear Doctor" headlines JFF 2010.

23 Jun – A total of eight Japanese films took place at GSC Mid Valley and GSC 1 Utama over the weekend as part of the 7th Japanese Film Festival's (JFF) lineup, with award-winning drama "Dear Doctor" headlining. Moviegoers who missed out on the films can look forward to catching it this weekend at GSC Gurney Plaza, Penang from 25 to 27 June.

According to Senior Program Officer of Cultural Affairs Department at The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur, Ms Kugai Kyoko: "The response this year was quite good. There were more than 2,200 visitors for the screenings in KL and many of the weekend shows were sold out. Based on the questionnaires filled up by cinemagoers, the popular movies were 'Dear Doctor', 'NORIBEN - The Recipe Of Fortune' and 'Feel The Wind'." Cinema Online's JFF 2010 contest winners got invited to the exclusive launch at GSC Mid Valley last week and enjoy the festival's opening film, "Dear Doctor". Miwa Nishikawa directs this award-winning drama about a young medical intern Keisuke Soma (Eita) who meets a small town resident doctor named Dr. Osamu Ino (Tsurube Shofukutei) with a dark secret.

After the screening, viewers were asked what they thought about "Dear Doctor" and how many stars would they give out of five.

Alwin Chan: "Japanese movies aren't up to par with Hollywood films yet but this movie manages to deliver some suspense, making it interesting especially when the doctor went missing. 2.5 stars."

Joanne Low: "It was my first time watching a Japanese movie actually! Overall, it was pretty okay but I felt that the movie was slow at times. I'd award it 3 stars."

Shahrul Fawwaz: "The storyline was fine but I think that the movie was too slow for my liking. I did enjoy watching it but it took a while for me to understand the movie. 3 stars."

Catch "Dear Doctor" at the Japanese Film Festival as it moves up north to GSC Gurney Plaza, Penang from 25 - 27 June 2010!
