"Deathly Hallows" tops in second week.

29 Nov – "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows – Part 1" continues to dominate the box office in its second weekend, holding off Disney's "Rapunzel: A Tangled Tale" in North America and Singapore, while the Disney Princess successfully debuted at No.1 in Malaysia.

The penultimate Potter tallied an estimated US$220.4 million in ten days, making it the highest-grossing ten-day launch of the series in the States, surpassing "Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince"'s US$201.2 million, Box Office Mojo reports.

Meanwhile in Singapore, the long-haired Princess Rapunzel proved itself to be a box office favourite as it opened in second with just 3D showings, according to distributor Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures Singapore. Moviegoers can catch the normal version as it opens this Thursday, 2 December 2010.

Malaysians showed keen interest onto local horror comedy "Ngangkung" starring Shaheizy Sam as it earned an encouraging RM550,000 on opening day and grossed about RM3 million over the weekend, according to distributor Metrowealth International Group (MIG).

Comparable to "Adnan Sempit"'s opening weekend gross, MIG hopes for "Ngangkung" to surpass "Adnan Sempit"'s overall box office collection of RM7.6 million to become Malaysia's top-grossing film of all time.

In addition to that, GSC Mid Valley Cinema Manager Mr Lee Kong Yew revealed that the Top 3 highest-grossing movies at the location are "Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows", "Ngangkung" and "Rapunzel: A Tangled Tale".

In other news, GSC Maxx opened for business last Thursday at Berjaya Times Square Kuala Lumpur as what is touted to be the largest digital hall in Malaysia with 555 seats.

Moreover, 3D movies have begun showing at Big Cinemas Lotus Five Star outlets in Batu Pahat Mall, Alor Star Mall, Taiping Sentral, Landmark Central Shopping Mall Kulim and Brem Mall, boasting the Ultimate 3D technology that combines Active 3D Glasses and the latest 4k upgradable series digital cinema projector across 10 of its screens.
