16 Jun – Movie fans can enjoy another round of Japanese films as the Japanese Film Festival is back in Malaysia, running from 17 to 21 June 2010 at GSC Mid Valley and GSC 1 Utama, then moving up to Penang from 25 to 27 June 2010 at GSC Gurney Plaza.
Now in its 7th year, the film festival will kick-off with "Dear Doctor", an award-winning drama helmed by Nishikawa Miwa. During the launch last night at GSC Mid Valley, Director of The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur Mr Toyoda Shoichi said, "'Dear Doctor' is a film that has won more than 30 awards in Japan. The main actor, Shofukutei Tsurube is a traditional comic storyteller and is quite a well-known TV personality. The film shows you not only entertainment but also the real aspects of the Japanese social problems like aging society, underpopulated villages, lack of medical doctors and so on. We hope that Malaysians will enjoy the films and get to know the life and society of Japanese people."
Showcasing eight new titles, this year's selection carries various genres from love and drama such as "Dear Doctor" and "Yamazakura – The Cherry Three In The Hills" to sports and adventure such as "Feel The Wind" and "The Summit: A Chronicle Of Stones". All films are in Japanese with English subtitles and each ticket is affordably priced at RM 5. Tickets can be purchased at GSC box office or e-payment facilities two (2) days before the date of screening.
