7 May – In a press conference held at GSC Midvalley to announce the 10th edition of the French Art and Film Festival 2011 (FAFF 2011), Malaysian French Embassy's Stephane Dovert reveals his favourite French movie; "Micmacs", from the festival's upcoming movie line-up.
Stephane Dovert recommends the three-time award nominated crime fantasy "Micmacs" directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet as one of his favourite French movies. He said, "It is one of the most successful film in the world after the movie "Amelie Delicatessen" which is also directed by Jeunet".
Brought to you by the Malaysian French Embassy and Alliance Francaise, the 19-day festival will serve as a comprehensive approach of promoting diversity and celebrating French culture in Malaysia.
The festival will commence simultaneously at Kuala Lumpur and Penang from 12 to 31 of May 2011, with a diverse program that features jazz and rock concerts, photo exhibition, dance performance, champagne tasting and also a film festival.
The film section of the festival is jointly organised by Golden Screen Cinemas and will feature 6 new French movies that will be screened from 12 May to 22 May in KL. The film festival will then move to Penang from the 26 to 31 May.
Three-time award nominated drama "The Girl of Monaco" is just one of the six films that will be available for audiences. The other films in the festivals' lineup are, "Heartbreaker", "Micmacs" "Trouble at Timpeltill", "Crossed Track" and "My Mom's Head".
