18 Jul – The screenwriter for Christopher Nolan's "Batman" trilogy, David Goyer, is set to pen the remake of 1998's "Godzilla", according to a report on Reuters website.
David Callaham, who wrote "The Expendables" and "Doom", had previously written a draft for the movie, but when Legendary Pictures attached director Gareth Edwards ("Monsters") to the project, David Goyer was taken in to work on the script. It is not known yet what direction the film will take, but the studio has said that they intend to make the film in the "most authentic manner possible". Warner Bros. will be co-producing, co-financing and distributing "Godzilla" alongside Legendary Pictures who had acquired rights to "Godzilla" since 2010 from Toho Film Co. of Japan. Toho made the first movie in 1954 with the title "Gojira", which then spawned an American remake by the name of "Godzilla" in 1998, which starred Matthew Broderick, Jean Reno and Hank Azaria.
