8 Oct – After "Nasi Lemak 2.0's" Facebook page announced that GSC and TGV cinemas would take their movie off their cinemas, many Netizens expressed their concerns over the sudden removal off the film when initially the showtimes for the movie showed a longer run.
An announcement on the movie's official page on Facebook read, "Nasi Lemak 2.0" will be taken down from TGV and GSC cinema starting from today/tomorrow, thank you for giving me a long-run, however you can still catch the film at MBO/BIG cinema :) if not, click ASTRO FIRST now at channel 480 to catch the film in full HD!! Walao EH !!!!" Netizens then flooded the post with dissatisfaction over the movies short run, as most of them expressed that they didn't have a chance to catch the movie which enjoyed a local box office standing of third place over the course of three weeks in a row. GSC cinemas which initially had showtimes for the movie listed for the weekend, was noticed to have removed the listings quite suddenly, bearing the announcement that the movie is removed off the cinemas "due to unforeseen circumstances". "Since our film does not have 'wajib-tayang' (compulsory screening) certification, the cinema companies have the right to take down the film any time they want," said Fred Chong the Executive Producer of the movie when contacted by Cinema Online. "We are disappointed that many supporters will not have the chance to catch the film but we respect the cinema's decision," added Chong. "Nasi Lemak 2.0" is Namewee's first directorial debut where he also stars the lead who goes on an extraordinary journey meeting the various personalities of Malaysia as he learns to make the best 'Nasi Lemak' there is. The movie is still showing in MBO and BIG cinemas and is also available for subscription on the Astro First channel in high definition.
