ScreenSingapore closes

13 June – The Asian Pacific premiere of "Larry Crowne" for the closing of ScreenSingapore, saw many local and international stars; namely Zhang Ziyi, Vanness Wu and Hollywood A-lister Tom Hanks, walk the red carpet at Shaw Lido, Singapore.

The red carpet gala that marked the end of the week-long film festival (5 to 11 June), ended its run of screenings, workshops and red carpet events with the premiere of Tom Hanks' latest starring and directorial effort; "Larry Crowne".

As fans gathered up as early at 5pm outside Shaw Lido, which had its entrance decked with bright lights and a 200-metre red carpet, awaited patiently for hours as international and local personalities walked the red carpet before Tom Hanks made his grand appearance at 8pm.

Vanness Wu was greeting by hordes of screaming girls.

Apart from receiving the loudest cheer of the night, Hanks, who was surrounded by a throng of bodyguards, also received flowers, signed autographs and posed for the media which when rampant over photographing the star.

As a cheerful Tom Hanks greeted the crowd over his 15 minutes appearance, he then made his way into the building to join the other celebrities for the movie's premiere. Other celebrities who also graced the red carpet were; Zhang Ziyi, Archie Kao, Vanness Wu, Lee Byung-hun and more, who were also well greeted by fans.

According to a press statement recently released by the hosts of ScreenSingapore; Media Development Authority (MDA) and organizer, Experia Events, ScreenSingapore will be making a return next year.
