Sean Lau bringing magic to Malaysia

29 Dec – Hong Kong Film Award winner, Sean Lau Ching Wan is coming to Malaysia to promote "The Great Magician", the first Chinese Blockbuster Movie of the New Year come this 6 January 2012 at Pavilion Shopping Mall, Kuala Lumpur.

It will be Lau's first visit to Malaysia since 2004. This time, the veteran actor is presenting the Malaysian audience with "The Great Magician", an action-mystery piece by Award winning director, Derek Yee, also starring7-time Hong Kong Film Award winner, Tony Leung Chiu Wai, Zhou Xun, Yan Ni, Paul Chun and Wu Gang.

Based on Zhang Hai Fan's bestselling novel of the same name, Derek Yee and his team was said to have spent about a billion Hong Kong dollars to bring "The Great Magician" onto the silver screen.

The story is set against the background of a warlord era in year 1916, and follows a magician's tough journey and effort to save his fiancé from the warlord.

Lau will start his promotional tour at a media conference in JW Marriot Hotel Kuala Lumpur, follow by a live interview at radio station MY FM.

The fan meet and movie launching session will be held later at night around 7.30pm at the concourse level of Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, followed by the premiere screening of the movie at GSC Pavilion.

Magic enthusiasts have the chance to win more than RM10,000 worth of prizes by participating in "The Great Magician's Apprentice Search", where the champion will get to be the student of local top mentalist magician, Mr.Zlwin Chew.

Additionally they will also be given a set of magic props and learning materials that is worth RM1,000, a Samsung Galaxy S II, RM200 worth of movie premiums and four passes to the movie's premiere screening. The winner will be announced with Sean's presence during the meet the fans session.

"The Great Magician" will be officially released in Malaysian and Singaporean cinemas this 12 January 2012.
