"Zoolander 2" plot revealed

5 Oct – Earlier this year Ben Stiller revealed he had finished penning the script for "Zoolander 2", the follow up of his 2001 comedy film and had submitted it to the studio for their approval. Now fellow co-star Owen Wilson has revealed some of the plot details for the upcoming film, according to a report on MovieWeb's website.

Owen Wilson & Ben Stiller starred in 2001's "Zoolander", and are also set to reprise their roles for the sequel.

Wilson revealed that his character, 'VH1 Model Of The Year' Hansel, has suffered a disfiguring injury since the 2001 original.

While promoting his forthcoming film "Big Year", Wilson revealed that Hansel suffers a similar fate to Tom Cruise in "Vanilla Sky" which seriously hampers his modelling career.

Back in January, Stiller announced that he and "Zoolander" screenwriter Justin Theroux had finished their script, which will pick up with the dim-witted models 10 years after the 2001 film took place.

"Most of it is set in Europe," said Stiller. "I don't want to give away too much, but it's basically Derek and Hansel 10 years later, though the last movie ended on a happy note a lot of things have happened in the meantime."

"Their lives have changed and they're not really relevant anymore. It's a new world for them. Will Ferrell is written into the script and he's expressed interest in doing it. I think Mugatu is an integral part of the "Zoolander" story, so yes, he features in a big way," added Wilson.

The first "Zoolander" film was banned in Malaysia as its plot involved the assassination of the nation's Prime Minister that was deemed too controversial.

"Zoolander 2" is in development and will star Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Will Ferrell. The film is directed by Justin Theroux.
