7 March – "Rango" proves that big things come in small packages as it tops North American box office, followed by Matt Damon's sci-fi romance "The Adjustment Bureau" and Alex Pettyfer's modern-day fairytale adaptation "Beastly" in second and third place respectively, reports BoxOfficeMojo for the weekend just gone (4-6 March). The confused chameleon voiced by Johnny Depp in his first animation debut lassoed an estimated US$38 million over its opening weekend. "Rango" is scheduled to release nationwide on 10 March. Damon's sci-fi romance "The Adjustment Bureau" managed to rake in an estimated US$20.9 million while Alex Pettyfer's "Beastly" settled comfortably at third place with US$10.1 million, a collection much lower than Pettyfer's other movie, "I Am Number Four" which snagged US$19.4 million in its opening weekend. "The Adjustment Bureau" is releasing at cinemas nationwide on 3 March and "Beastly" is showing at cinemas in Malaysia on 5 March while a Singaporean release is scheduled on 12 May.
Meanwhile GSC Mid Valley cinema manager Lee Kong Yew revealed that the top three highest-grossing movies at the prime location for the weekend are Alex Pettyfer's sci-fi romance flick "I Am Number Four", "The Adjustment Bureau" and Pettyfer's other romance "Beastly". Other new releases and sneak shows over the weekend in Malaysia include "Underdog Soldiers", "The Dvd", "The Fighter", "Hantu Tanah Kusir", "127 Hours" and "Singam Puli". New releases and sneak shows in Singapore over the weekend include "Tanu Weds Manu", "Gnomeo And Juliet", "My Ex: Haunted Lover", "All About Love", "How Do You Know", "Forever", "The Adjustment Bureau" and "Morning Glory".
