8 films for Grand Brilliance in 2013

The honourable guests of Grand Brilliance's Film Launching Ceremony.

9 Sept – Not wanting to end the Raya festivities yet, Grand Brilliance recently held their film launching ceremony and unveiled a total of 12 films, four of which will be released in the last quarter of 2012.

The four films are "Ngorat", "Istanbul Aku Datang", "Sembunyi" and "Bisikan Syaitan", while the other eight 2013 films are "KL Zombie", "Pecah", "Rock Oo! Rimba Bara Kembali", "Penanggal", "KL Gangster 2", "Pencinta", "Pengapit" and "Lebuhraya Ke Neraka".

The event was made more memorable with a majority of the films' stars in attendance, among which includes popular actress Lisa Surihani, her co-stars Beto Kusyairy and Tomok, as well as popular actor Shaheizy Sam. Some of the stars were called on to present the lucky draw prizes worth RM10,000 total, while singers like Tomok and Aiman were given the opportunity to showcase their vocal skills by belting out the singles of "Istanbul Aku Datang" and "Bisikan Syaitan" respectively.

While not much is revealed about the 2013 films besides the trailers, the 2012 films have a lot of hype to live up to. The romantic comedy "Ngorat" stars Singaporean actor Aaron Aziz, who is also the local heartthrob, alongside Iedil Putra and veteran actress Erra Fazira, while fellow romantic comedy "Istanbul Aku Datang" boasts an ensemble cast of Lisa Surihani, Beto Kusyairy and Tomok.

On the other hand, horror films "Bisikan Syaitan" and "Sembunyi" are both by newcomers. The former is the directorial debut of Faizul Rashid about a couple who make a deal with the devil in their attempt to obtain wealth, while the other is by award-winning director Kabir Bhatia, only that "Sembunyi" is his first foray into the horror genre.

"We are confident that audiences with be entertained with our film line-ups until the end of 2012, which is in line with our mission to be the front-runner in bringing a breath of fresh air in our local film industry, and with God's will, we hope to continue this with our film line-ups in 2013," said the General Manager of Grand Brilliance, Tengku Iesta Tengku Alaudin.
