15 Mar – Fans who have supported the 'Ah Beng' played by local actor and MY FM DJ Jack Lim are held in the highest esteem, as they have provided the "Ah Beng The Movie: Three Wishes" cast with the money to treat everyone involved in the production to a RM1.1 million dinner at Noble Banquet, Kuala Lumpur yesterday. "I am deeply grateful for the support that everyone has given for my movie. There's even someone who actually watched the movie 23 times, with tickets and photos to show for it! Also, we'll be coming out with a DVD for the fans soon." This is not the only charity that the stars have done, for they have also donated some of their proceeds to charities as promised, should their movie break the local box office record of RM7 million. To be exact, the total gross of their box office earnings were RM7,559,830.26, which was revealed in a contest for the guests to guess. The participant who managed to guess the numbers closest to the total walked away with a HTC Sensation smartphone. However, for the ones who did not win, they were given chances to win prizes from lucky draws held throughout the event, and the dinner itself was no disappointment. With food like lobster, shark fin soup and abalone served, the party was without doubt, a gesture that Ah Beng would do, based on his character in the movie, which was spending money on others. For those who were not able to catch the movie, "Ah Beng The Movie: Three Wishes" told the story of the kind-hearted Ah Beng and his father. When the latter gave coins to a scruffy old beggar despite being unable to afford it, the beggar revealed himself to be the God of Fortune and blessed him with 3 wishes. Meanwhile, not-so-bright security guard Ah Beng remained unaware of this, until a mysterious guy stepped in to help him from bullies.
