19 Oct – While rock and roll fans are getting excited to see "The Dictator" star Sasha Baron Cohen playing Queen's lead singer Freddie Mercury on the big screen, "Trouble with the Curve" actress Amy Adams is attached to portray the Queen Of Rock And Roll, Janis Joplin, in the late music legend's biopic, according to New York Post.

Janis Joplin passed away at the young age of 27.

The Joplin's biopic is titled "Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can" and will focus on one day of the singer's life. Word is that American director Lee Daniels, who also helmed the critically acclaimed drama film "Precious: Based On The Novel Push By Sapphire" and "The Paperboy", is currently still in talks to direct the biopic.

However, while the "The Master" actress will star as the Texas-born rocker, there are still no words on whether she will also sing in the film. Shooting for "Janis Joplin: Get It While You Can" is set to begin early next year.

The film is not the only production to adapt the rock and roll singer's life. Earlier this year, sources announced that director Sean Durkin and Tony Award-winning stage star Nina Arianda has been confirmed to be presenting the 60's musician's story on silver screen as well, and their project holds exclusive rights to use 21 of Joplin's best-known tracks.

Joplin first rose to fame as the lead singer of her rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company during the late 1960s. She went on to produce unforgettable classics such as "Down On Me", "Summertime", "Piece Of My Heart", "Cry Baby" and her sole number one hit, "Me And Bobby McGee", as a solo artist. Her death shocked the music world, and was cited as due to drug overdose. She was just 27.

Meanwhile, Adams will next be seen as Clark Kent, a.k.a. Superman's girlfriend Lois Lane in Zack Snyder's 2013 superhero film "Man Of Steel".
