Ashton to play Steve Jobs

A 'Job' well done: Ashton Kutcher (left) seems like a younger Steve Jobs (right) doppelganger.

2 Apr – "Valentine's Day" star Ashton Kutcher has been cast to play tech guru Steve Jobs in a biopic of the late Apple co-founder, confirms Variety.

Tackling the role of the iconic CEO, the 34-year-old will portray Jobs from his early days up to his Apple breakthroughs.

Tentatively titled "Jobs", the independent movie will be directed by Joshua Michael Stern ("Swing Vote") and is expected to head into production this May, while Kutcher is on break from filming his current TV comedy series, "Two And A Half Men".

However, Kutcher will not be the first actor to play Steve Jobs. Actor Noah Wyle played Jobs in the critically acclaimed 1999 television movie "Pirates of Silicon Valley", which followed the rise of the Apple founder along with Microsoft's founder Bill Gates.

Sony Pictures is also planning a separate Steve Jobs movie that is based on an authorised book that was published within weeks of Jobs' death to pancreatic cancer last October.
