13 July – Earlier this year, Jack Lim's "Ah Beng The Movie: Three Wishes" gave the local box office a huge boost by making RM7 million, and now the local actor cum MY FM DJ is confident that his upcoming local Malay film titled "Balistik", will reach the RM10 million mark next year, according to Sin-Chew. Produced by Anugerah Skrin Best Actor Rosyam Nor's Suhan Movies and Trading Sdn. Bhd. together with Asia Tropical Films, "Balistik" is a new gangster film directed by Silver, who also directed "Ah Beng The Movie: Three Wishes". The film features a star-studded lineup consisting of Rosyam Nor himself, Jack Lim, Adi Putra, Rita Rudaini, Gan Mei Yan, Jason and Jeff from MY FM. "This year, we've screened many local films in cinemas, but not all of them were able to achieve great results at the box office. There was even a movie that only gained RM70,000. I wish "Balistik" could turn the situation around," said Lim, who guaranteed Rosyam that they will gross more than RM5 million if he makes an appearance in the movie. "I also hope that I can win a Best Supporting Actor award. I've told the director that the pay is not really important to me; I just want to give a great performance. I want to win an award!" added Lim. On the subject of box office grosses, Rosyam remarked, "Making movies is a double-edged sword. We can try to obtain good performances by the cast, good production and good direction, but once the movie is released in cinemas, we cannot control the audience." He added, "I hope that the Chinese actors who join the cast will help to attract more Chinese audience in addition to the Malay moviegoers. At the same time, we are also working with Asia Tropical Films to build a rapport with international parties so that we have a chance to introduce the film to foreign audiences." "Balistik" is scheduled to be released in Malaysia's cinemas next year.
